Construction Contracts

Purpose:

This record series consists of the construction contracts maintained by the Office of the University Legal Counsel.  The records generally contain all documents generated from construction contracts established between NIU and various architects, engineers, and contractors including:  copies of contracts, rough drafts and work papers, copies of building specifications, and all related correspondence.  Originals are maintained with the Office of Business Affairs.
 

Procedure:

Retain in office for ten (10) years following termination of contract(s), then transfer all building specifications to the University Archives for permanent retention and dispose of balance of the file series providing all audits have been completed under the supervision of the Auditor General, if necessary, and no litigation is pending or anticipated.
